Using What I Have Journal Entry #12
For some reason, this October, I've been craving Halloween candy. I had the sense to buy myself another batch of vegan candy corn and mellowcreme pumpkins, which I preordered in early September and just recently arrived. But somehow, it hasn't been enough. I've become practically desperate to order myself some treats.
So instead of doing that, I rummaged around and made myself a little plate of Halloween-style goodies.
I found some forgotten toffee in the back of a cupboard, a handful of Skittles (a box of Skittles lasts me at least a month--I don't tend to eat a lot of candy at once under most circumstances), opened my last package of Cocomels, and arranged it all with the aforementioned artisan mellowcreme pumpkins and candy corn in a little plate, and proceeded to eat it all with a cup of Teeccino and soy milk.
I don't do this sort of thing often, and wouldn't recommend it under most circumstances. That much sugar didn't end up feeling good to have eaten. And when I was a child, out collecting Halloween candy, I rarely ate much of it at a time, and my mother would usually find my stash some weeks later in my closet and throw it out.
But it hit some unknown spot deep inside my psyche, and took care of my inner child, or something. It prevented me from ordering some huge amount of candy I will not eat. I had my taste of the season in a much more moderate way.
Happy Halloween, everyone!
