Thermos 3-Tier Bento #31

A couple of my salted chocolate chip almond bites, applesauce, lentil stew, and garlic toast.

This was beginning to draw on the dregs of my pantry, but I guess you wouldn't know that to look at it, probably. It's just so brown. Oh, well. That happens sometimes. But I'm looking forward to having more colorful food in my fridge soon!

  1. I know what you mean about the pantry meals being brown. I'm already over my pantry challenge, ha! Your meal does look delicious, I can't be mad at anything that features stew, garlic toast and delicious chocolate chip almond bites. It looks really satisfying!

    1. Pantry challenges work best when you supplement with a little bit of fresh stuff--I would, for example, think this was perfectly fine with a bit of fresh fruit rather than the applesauce. I do like the way the applesauce and almond bites make a kind of accidental teddy bear, though!

  2. Some of my favorite food is brown! Looks like a tasty assortment, especially considering the pantry challenge. Lentil stew is a sure thing for me.
I need to try applesauce again, i burnt out on it years ago so we needed a time out. Any favorite brand or flavor? There are way too many choices and varieties now! You eat it cold?

    1. This wasn't really a pantry challenge--or at least not a voluntary one--so much as me not having gotten to the store. (I plan my pantry challenges to avoid feeling the way this kind of meal makes me feel).

I don't have loyalty to brand of applesauce. I buy unsweetened and generally prefer it at room temperature. You can doctor it up with cinnamon or cranberry relish if you like.

  3. Brown food is often good food, though!
