Dinner Plate #1

More using-what-I-have cookery: Garlic couscous (recipe from The Fiery Vegetarian), peppers and onions, broccoli, and vegan crab cakes (recipe from Vegan Huggs) with homemade vegan tartar sauce.

All of this was fine, except that I misread the crab cakes recipe and put the bread crumbs in with everything else rather than breading my crab cakes (oops!). Though that did require me to cook them a bit longer, it actually turned out fine. The crab cakes were a bit fragile but otherwise they tasted great so I won't complain.

I'm enjoying finding my way through what I've got. I don't remember when I bought the hearts of palm, but I probably bought them for this recipe, given how much I enjoy making hearts of palm into "crab" cakes. I think that's the only thing I really ever use them for, so I need to branch out, perhaps, as I have one more can left.

  1. You *can* branch out if you want, but honestly if you have a thing that you really love, you can maybe just... have it slightly more often, or with more variations? Lobster-roll-style crab salad sandwich? Hot crab dip? In sushi-roll type format? There are options...

    1. I have thought I should have, perhaps, hearts of palm in a more traditional manner, such as in a salad. But you may have ideas, too!
