Dinner Bowl #92
One of the things in my pantry, bought in the aftermath of my distress over Kraft discontinuing the American version of Heinz vegetarian beans in tomato sauce, was a can of the British Heinz vegetarian beans in tomato sauce. The thing I buy such things for, of course, is beans and weenies. So that's what I have (they're Lightlife veggie dogs) with homemade macaroni and cheese (it's a cashew-and sweet potato-based cheddar) and green beans.
This was good, but the British beans are different. I don't think it's that they're not as sweet, because I don't think the American version is sweet. But the American version has a thicker sauce, and it's a deeper red, too--the flavor is more concentrated. This seemed like the tomato sauce had been watered down. I won't be buying the imported beans again, but probably I wouldn't anyway because of tariffs, so there we are!
As for everything else, it was great, but I knew it would be. Sometimes, it's nice to have a meal you know.
