Monbento Original #33 (Double Tier)

A simple salad of cucumber ribbons and strawberries with a cup of poppy seed dressing on the side and cauliflower steak over some mushroom-tomato quinoa I made.

I had to cut the steak in half to fit the box, but that's probably best for lunchtime anyway, since I generally eat with smaller utensils and it can be hard to cut things with my little knife. I love cauliflower steak, but this is the first time I made one myself. I used Jessica Gavin's recipe with smoked paprika instead of the regular kind, and it turned out really well.

This is another gluten-free option, if you're looking for one.

  1. Love the colours in the salad.
I have made a few cauliflower steaks in my time, but not often. I do enjoy them though, so I should make more!
Have you ever made the giant roasted whole head of cauliflower?

    1. It's such a simple salad, but so bright! I haven't roasted a whole head of cauliflower, but I am only one person and the idea of eating an entire head of cauliflower prepped in one way is so daunting! But I might for a special occasion sometime.

  2. Your cauliflower steaks look lovely; that's another thing I haven't tried making yet but should really get around to!

    1. I feel it needs help to be a main dish, but it's SO GOOD I recommend trying it even though you'll need to put some effort into thinking about what else to serve. Quinoa works well, I think.
