Sequestration Meal #42

All of a sudden, I needed a bento-style lunch. I couldn't have one more dinner plate. I wanted everything all together in a container with deep sides, tightly packed, like you would do if you didn't want it to shift on your way to work.

(I don't know whether to laugh or cry at this impulse.)

So I made some rice, some of my double-fruit glazed tofu (but with orange marmalade, so it was really just orange-glazed tofu), stir fried veggies, and a quick spicy cucumber salad with red onions.

It made me happy; soothed me somehow. It felt like an almost-forgotten memory. I could have put it in an actual bento box but that felt more than a little silly, so I used a small casserole dish instead. It had been, at this juncture, nearly seven weeks since I'd actually had a reason to pack a lunch. When I really do, I wonder if I'll remember how.

If tofu were easier for me to get, I'd probably be eating tofu all the time. Alas, tofu is nearly impossible to get delivered. Once I work out a ready source of soy milk, though, I may well attempt to make my own.

  1. That sucks that tofu is hard to get, it is wonderful. I am grateful I have been able to get it delivered.
I'm glad you were able to address your urge and have a satisfying meal.

    1. I have acquired tofu! I didn't think I would but I somehow managed! Look for that in a future delivery services review--my posts are delayed, of course, so it'll be a little while. BUT. I have tofu!
