Sequestration Meal #153

Hello, again! I'm of the opinion we need to give ourselves grace, because the longer our isolation lasts, the harder it gets, not easier. And for me, as the world moves on around me and infection rates go up and there is an election going on and things are just so messy, that has meant a lot of very easy food, often kid food. So here is some truly childish food: A grilled cheese (Daiya cheddar) sandwich, Morningstar Farms chick'n nuggets, and some homemade "honey" mustard dressing (whether I used agave nectar or Bee Free Honee I can't recall).

Bee Free is, of course, out of business now, so I'm very open to recommendations for substitutes.

I've wondered about blogging again when I really don't have much that's impressive to show you, but I know I eat better when I have the accountability of posting the meal and I deeply appreciate the connection that has been forged. I miss you, if you're out there, still, and I hope you're all doing okay.

Winter is coming. The sun goes down so early now and it makes it hard to get good photos of my dinners, and it also makes it hard to have motivation to do much. But I'm here, trying anyway.

The things that derailed me are all still there. But I have to dust myself off anyway. Fingers crossed I can keep doing it.

    2. I couldn’t agree more with everything fruitcrmble said! I look forward to your posts. Even if you don’t feel like posting every day, that’s okay. Posting practically every day since quarantine started is commendable. Reading vegan blogs is the only thing that COVID can’t take away and still makes things seem normal although we don’t even know what that is anymore. Even if you posted a PB&J, it would still make my day :)

    3. Thanks for commenting! It may be commendable but mostly I posted so much because I felt I needed to stay connected to the world. It's hard sometimes, but blogging seems mutually beneficial, most of the time.

  3. Wow I can't believe you're up to #153! You've done amazingly well over this lockdown. I stopped posting ages ago because I was feeling so crappy in my first trimester and was back at work in my second! I'm now in my third trimester and need to get back to blogging x

  4. Recently, I entered a kitchen slump. I knew I had ingredients to make good stuff but I was uninspired. Nice dishes, a couple of carrots and celery stalks plus a dip later and things felt good again. The presentation was the key and you/your blog are positively responsible. Now I make a veg plate daily. Thank you

  5. I'm glad to see you posting again, and your kid meal looks great to me! I've been doing a lot of simple meals recently as well. I hadn't heard that Bee Free Honee went out of business; that's a shame!

    1. Apparently! But there a few other brands that appear to be a very similar product. We'll see what I can get and when and whether it matters to me at that point (I don't use that much "Honee" these days anyway, though it does add something delightful to some recipes).
